Three leaders, three composers, three exceptional musicians : the basic formula of a trio, demonstrating its originality since its creation in 1994.
Prysm had a strong influence in the second half of the 1990s, quickly crossing the French borders : the first French band to sign on Blue Note for four albums, the trio consistently proposed a strong and original music throughout its numerous concerts in France, and its four tours in the US, as well as several European countries, Near East and Japan.
Prysm turned out to be a benchmark trio on the French scene, being sought-after by a great number exceptional soloists, such as Philip Catherine, Lee Könitz, Norma Winstone or Paolo Fresu, and even James Taylor for another US tour with a symphony orchestra in 1999.

Stopped in 2001, the project re-formed in 2009 with the idea of inviting guests on the repertoire of the three co-leaders, first during a residence at the Sunside in Paris, and then at the Opera de Lyon, where two got recorded in June 2009, one with Manu Codjia and the other one with Rosario Giuliani.
« Five » - fifth album, five musicians - is the result of this momentum, conveying the "live" energy of a band enriched with experience and with the exceptional talent of its guests.
