Yazz Ahmed : La Saboteuse meets success

mercredi 10 janvier 2018

Bahraini-British performer, Yazz Ahmed, is transforming what jazz means in 2017. Part of the new wave of artists credited with stirring up the sound, she released, after 6 years of work, her 2th album in may 2017 : La Saboteuse. This album is a deep exploration of both her British and Bahraini roots, it’s composed of undulating rhythms, Middle Eastern melody and Yazz’s sonorous trumpet lines. The trumpeter collaborated with musicians of any horizon, such as Radiohead, the Jamaican Max Romeo and one of the precursors of the current jazz, the saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings.

The sound of Yazz Ahmed is unique and this year distanced itself in the middle of jazz. La Saboteuse was classified several times in the top albums of 2017.

Yazz Ahmed will play during Winter Jazz Festival, in New York, in the district of Greenwich Village. The trumpeter will perform tonight, January 10th, at Le Poisson Rouge during the British Jazz Showcase hosting by Gilles Peterson.

The album La Saboteuse has been shortlisted for The Gilles Peterson Worldwide Awards 2018, in the category " Album Jazz of the year " !

A beautiful year for the trumpeter Yazz Ahmed …
