Thousands of Miles | Kate Lindsey & Baptiste Trotignon

mardi 4 avril 2017

Reducing the distance between classical music and Broadway, between the old and the new world, Thousands of Miles is the result of a meeting between two artists : Kate Lindsey, a lyric singer whose career is exploding, who excels in Mozart or Purcell but also grew up with the sound of Broadway, from Gershwin to Cole Porter ; and Baptiste Trotignon, a multi-award-winning jazz pianist, who shared the stage with big names such as Brad Mehldau and Tom Harrell. Besides, Baptiste remains very attached to classical music as he composed a piano and orchestra concerto created by Nicholas Angelich.

Together they built a program around Kurt Weill’s songs, from Nanna’s Lied to Trouble Man and Lost in the Stars...

For this three languages trip from the origin of jazz, Baptiste Trotignon rearranged the piano parts and improvised on certain songs. The two artists also paid tribute to three composers who, like Weill, emigrated to the United States : Alma Mahler, Zemlinsky and Korngold.

Thousands of Miles will be released in May 2017 (Alpha - Outhere Music)
On tour : Fall 2017, Winter and Summer 2018

In agreement with Jonathan Letts / Centre Stage Artist Management
